AYSO Region 97: Progressive Play looking to expand

NEWPORT BEACH - The AYSO Region 97 Progressive Play program will be

holding tryouts for various teams throughout June at Harper Elementary.

In its second year of operation in Newport, Progressive Play was designed

to unite a team of players generally with better overall playing skills

than others in the same age group.

Last year, Newport fielded three teams, each with considerable success.

The teams will grow to six - boys and girls under 10 teams, boys and

girls under 12 and boys and girls under 14.

Tryouts for the boys and girls under 10 will take place on June 4 and 11,

the boys and girls under 12s are June 5 and 12 and the boys and girls

under 14s are June 6 and 13.

All girls tryouts are from 4:30-6 p.m., while the boys’ tryouts are from

6-7:30 p.m.

The fees, including registration, tournaments, bags and sweatshirts are

approximately $150-200 per player.

All players, especially goal keepers, are welcomed to try out for the
