Youth soccer: Pilot Cup approaching
NEWPORT-MESA - Coaches are needed for the upcoming first annual
Pilot Cup, which will take place June 2-4 throughout the Newport-Mesa
area.
The Pilot Cup soccer tournament is a one-weekend competition to see which
school, public or private, has the best soccer team in the following
divisions: third- and fourth-grade boys, third- and fourth-grade girls,
fifth- and sixth grade boys and fifth- and sixth-grade girls.
The finals will take place on June 4 at Kaiser and Harper elementary
schools.
Winners will receive commemorative awards and the winning school will
receive the right to show off the Pilot Cup Perpetual Trophy for one
year.
The deadline for youngsters to sign up for the Pilot Cup is May 20 at the
principal’s office or athletics office of each school.
Registration is $5 and all participants in the tournament, sponsored by
the Daily Pilot and the Youth Services Association, will receive a
T-shirt.
