Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites will celebrate the grand opening of

its Newport Coast Villas by hosting a “Friend-raiser” event at 5:30

tonight at the resort, 23000 Newport Coast Drive in Newport Coast.

The newest Marriott facility spans 75 coastal acres. Construction began

early last year on the 700 time-share units and was recently completed,

said Marriott’s Debra Leach.

Guest speakers at the benefit will include Orange County Sheriff Mike

Carona and Marcos Sanchez, the Boys & Girls Club’s Youth of the Year.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of

Orange County. The clubs serve more than 45,000 children through its 16

locations in the county.

Tickets are $100 per person and the event is limited to 200 guests. For
