Rent some fun in the sun

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- It’s that time of year again -- when schools are out

and the waves are in.

As part of an annual ritual, thousands of people will flock to Huntington

Beach’s famous coastline, which offers everything from surfing to leisure

activities such as bicycling and sunbathing.

To satisfy the needs of those adventure seekers, many businesses near the

city and state beaches are offering rental equipment for a fun day in the

sun.

The following is a list of some of the businesses:

* Beachcombers Surf & Sport: They rent surfboards, both long and short,

and body boards. The business is at 207 Main St. and is open from 9 a.m.

to 10 p.m. daily. Prices range from $7.50 to $20 for daily rentals.

Deposits are required for both. 960-0031.

* Huntington Surf and Sport: They rent beginner’s surfboards, both long

and short, body boards and wet suits. The business has two locations --

300 Pacific Coast Highway and 3801 Warner Ave. The Pacific Coast Highway

location is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m.

to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Warner Avenue store is open from 9

a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday

and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Prices range from $3 to $20 for hourly and

* Play It Again Sports: They rent inline skates. The business is at 18325

Beach Blvd. and is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.

to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Skates are $12 a day

with pads. A deposit is required. 848-6788.

* Zack’s Beach Resorts: They rent beach bicycle cruisers, singles and

doubles, inline skates, body boards, surfboards, wet suits, beach chairs

and umbrellas and cabanas. The business has three locations: Zack’s Too

at 21579 Pacific Coast Highway, Vic’s On The Beach at 21003 Pacific Coast

Highway and Zack’s Pier Plaza at 405 Pacific Coast Highway. Prices range

from $2 to $20 for hourly and daily rentals. All locations are open from

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. 536-0215.
