Pirates outlast Brewers, 14-10

In a seesaw battle between a pair of teams vying for sole

possession of second place in the Minor A Division standings, the Pirates

outlasted the Brewers Thursday in a wild 14-10 game played at Ocean View

Little League.

In a game where offense dominated the scene, Albert Breitwieser had three

hits, two RBI, and scored three runs, John Tomasek also had three hits

along with two RBI and two runs scored, James Miller hit a pair of

singles and scored twice, and Finn Jensen collected to hits to lead the

Pirates.

Daulton Hunkle had two hits and scored two runs, and Brian Conroy, Eric

Chatigny, and Charlie Pickle each finished with two hits.

In other games:

Reds 7, Rangers 5

The first-place Reds were nearly upended by the Rangers, but rallied for

three runs in the top of the sixth to pull out the win.

MJ Forsberg had two hits and scored three runs, and Mickey Caldwell had

two hits to pace the Reds.

Bo Wensevic doubled twice, Mickey Moses had an RBI single, and Ryan

Schulenburg struck out eight in four innings pitched for the Rangers.

Red Sox 18, Tigers 16

In another high-scoring battle, Justin Pack doubled twice, singled, and

scored three runs, Michael Peters also finished with three hits and

scored twice, David Harrington and Darryl Bennett each had two hits and

scored twice, and Ellis Jackson hit two singles and scored three runs to

lead the Red Sox.

The Tigers’ Ian Cable led all hitters with four hits, which included a

solo home run, and teammate Travis Kaufman added three hits and three

runs scored.

MINOR B DIVISION

Orioles 18, Pirates 1

Sam Sedivy delivered three RBI and Beau Amaral added two more as every

Oriole player scored a run and 10 of the 12 players on the roster

collected an RBI.

Rockies 17, Pirates 7

Matt McWilliams belted a two-run home run to highlight an 11-run fourth

inning as the Rockies broke open a tight game.
