SUMMER SPORTS CALENDAR

JUNIOR WATER POLO

Newport Beach will sponsor a citywide junior water polo program

open to all third- through eighth-graders.

The program, coached by Ted Bandaruk, is in its 10th season with a

philosophy that “everyone plays.”

There will be on-site registration with a game schedule handed out at the

first practice.

A $30 equipment fee is due every three months and a $35 annual U.S. Water

Polo Assn. membership is required.

Games will be held Saturday afternoons at Corona del Mar High. For more

CdM SCENIC 5K

The 19th annual Corona del Mar scenic 5K run will take place Saturday at

Ocean Boulevard and Heliotrope Avenue.

The men’s 5K run will start at 8 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K start

at 8:20, the two-mile fun walk at 8:45 and the 1K kids’ “Dolphin Dash”

starts at 9.

Registration is $20 for the 5K, $15 for the two-mile fun walk and $12 for

the “Dolphin Dash,” or $25 each for all entries on race day.

Registration includes a T-shirt and a gourmet breakfast featuring food

from the famous Restaurant Row.

SOFTBALL LEAGUES

Coed, men’s and women’s softball leagues will be offered by the city of

Costa Mesa for teams of all skill levels this summer.

Teams will play a 10-game season. Co-ed teams will play Sunday through

Tuesday, the women’s league will play on Wednesdays and the men’s league

will play Tuesday through Friday.

Fees are $400 per team, plus $10 cash umpire fee per game.

MEN’S BASKETBALL LEAGUES

The city of Costa Mesa will offer a men’s adult five-man basketball

league for people of all skill levels beginning the week of July 10.

Play will be held at the Downtown Center and the league fee is $315 per

team, plus a $20 fee for the officials per game.
