NHBA Mustang: Dodgers slip past Cardinals

COSTA MESA - The Dodgers had a sixth-inning rally to defeat the

Cardinals, 8-7, in the Newport Harbor Baseball Association Mustang

Division (9-10 years old) playoffs.

Trailing, 7-4, Holden Gray-Keough and Cameron Chase each had two-RBI hits

in the sixth inning to give the Dodgers the win.

Peter Kinnie, Charley O’Desky and Braden Cluck each reached base in the

sixth, setting up the heroics.

Other offensive heroes for the Dodgers included Drew Littlefair, Eric

Hansen, Marshall Stamper and Stephen Brysha, while R.J. D’Cruz struck out

six Cardinals over the final three innings on the mound.

For the Cardinals, Jackson Massingill, Matthew Bissonnette and Jason

Loftus each pitched and hit well.

In other Mustang Division action:

Angels 8, Braves 5 - The Angels needed extra innings, but still defeated

the Braves in the first round of the Mustang Division playoffs.

Jeffrey Frum went 2 for 2 with two walks, while Jake Dayton and Jonathon

Herdman each chipped in with two hits for the Angels.

Vincent Newsom came through with a two-run triple in the final inning to

seal the win for the Angels.

Freddy Randall and Miles Baker anchored the Angels’ defense.

For the Braves, Niko Hernandez pitched three strong innings, while Justin

Jones went 2 for 2 with a walk.
