Marlins beat Dodgers, wrap up second half title

Facing a 3-0 deficit and the second half championship of the Majors

Division race at Fountain Valley Little League hanging in the balance,

the front running Marlins scored four runs in the fourth inning and went

on to a title-clinching, 6-3 victory over the Dodgers at Mile Square

Park.

Jeff Spirk guided the Marlins comeback with a pair of singles, a triple,

and two RBI.

Jessey Cordero tripled and singled twice, Martin Duran and Bobby Johnson

both had RBI doubles, and Zach Moore added a single and double for the

Marlins.

Dominic Santana and Travis Koehler each had an RBI, and Sean Atchison,

Brian Faust, and Edgar Rios all singled for the Dodgers.

In other games:

Mariners 7, Cardinals 2

Ryan Buckles doubled twice and delivered a pair of RBI to lead the

Mariners.

Tim Nash also led the Mariner charges with two singles, a double, and an

RBI, Adam DeLuna singled twice, Carlos Tellez hit an RBI single, and Matt

Bennett had an RBI.

The Cardinals were led by Ricky Rea, who singled twice, and Corey

Ferraro, who also singled.

Yankees 6, Royals 5

The Yankees scored five runs in the first inning, then held off a sixth

inning rally by the Royals to get the victory.

Dorian Chavez led the Yankees with an RBI double and single, Jeff

Mitchell had a two-run single, and John Larner and David McClelland each

singled.

For the Royals, Brian Kacoullas and Nick Floetker both had an RBI, and

Dustin Jamison, Kevin Newgass, Alex Moreno, and Evan Gamos all singled.
