Roy Yamaguchi, creator of the award-winning Roy’s restaurant, has a new

cookbook out. It’s called “Feasts from Hawaii.” It features his classic

work and is considered the bible of Pacific Rim cuisine.

“Roy’s food is so appropriate for summer entertaining, and many of the

recipes are not that difficult,” says Lee Healy, a spokesperson for

Roy’s. “With virtually every page in color, it is a beautiful cookbook

that is a welcome addition to any collection.”

The cookbook is available at the restaurant for $29.95 and is also at the

Newport Beach Central Library. Inside the cookbook you’ll find dozens of

recipes categorized as appetizers; soups; salads; pastas and pizzas; fish

and shellfish; meat and poultry; side dishes and salsas; brunch; and

desserts.

In case you didn’t know, the restaurant has become so popular that it now

has locations in Florida, Manhattan, Pebble Beach, Seattle, Scottsdale,

Tokyo, Guam, Colorado, San Diego and five locations in Hawaii. Roy’s

Newport Beach is at Fashion Island, 453 Newport Center Drive. For

information, call (949) 640-ROYS.

Early shoppers for Father’s Day might want to stop by Tommy Bahama for

upscale, casual clothing ideal for dads. The store carries its signature

Tommy Bahama silk-blend camp shirt in tropical prints and solids in a

range of muted colors. There are comfortable trousers in different

styles, and shorts. Polo shirts come in washed-down solids and tropical

prints. They are available in soft cotton, pique or ottoman fabrics and

details such as coconut buttons and textured collars and sleeves. There

is also a tie with a print of a father and son or father and daughter

walking on a pristine beach. The company’s signature retro-shaped,

sand-washed silk herringbone tie can be worn at work or evening. If

clothing is not what dad wants, there are tropical-scented travel candles

in gardenia, coconut, pineapple and kiwi, plus beach towels,

tropical-printed beach bags and hats. For the beach or work, there is the

“Raising Cane” bag -- a doctor’s bag crafted from heavy-duty tarp canvas

with rugged leather and cane trim, available in black and khaki, as well

as a leather version. Introduced for Father’s Day are the day planner,

bi-fold and tri-fold wallets and card cases -- all in black or khaki tarp

canvas with leather trim. Other pieces from the collection include a

laptop case, garment bag, large tote and a beach bag with sling strap.

All of the pieces come in leather-trimmed tarp canvas. Hopefully, like

dad, these accessories will look better with age. Tommy Bahama is at

Fashion Island in Newport Beach. For information, call (949) 760-1886.
