Doris Gray Emerson of Costa Mesa died peacefully at home, surrounded by

family members May 26, 2000. She was 75.

Ms. Emerson was born in Los Angeles Jan. 24, 1925. She attended Franklin

High School in Los Angeles and graduated from USC in 1946 with a

bachelor’s degree in business education.

She was very active in several activities throughout her life, including

being a Delta Delta Delta sorority alumnus for 50 years.

Ms. Emerson was involved with Jobs Daughters; the Clan Donald Society;

the California Republican Assembly; the United Empire Loyalists; the

Balboa Bay Republican Women’s Federated; the Panhellenic Assn.; was a

past president of Sons of the American Revolution Women’s Auxiliary South

Coast chapter; and performed 20 years of volunteer work as a librarian

for the Orange County Genealogical Society at the Huntington Beach

Genealogical Library.

She was a loving wife to the late James L. Emerson and was a loving

mother and homemaker.

Ms. Emerson is survived by her children, Douglas, Laura Bennitt, Brian,

Bruce; and three grandchildren.

A private funeral will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 13 at St. Andrew’s

Presbyterian Church, 600 Saint Andrews Road, Newport Beach.
