AIRPORT AREA PLANNING

Staff wants input from the City Council on how to proceed with long-range

planning for the area surrounding John Wayne Airport and what role

developers should have in that planning.

The council will consider two major development proposals in the airport

area soon: Conexant and Koll Center. The projects could present an

opportunity for the city to begin a long-range planning and

transportation improvement program for the area.

What to expect: Discussion in the study session; no action will be taken.

PROPOSED ARTS CENTER

Proponents of an arts and education center have requested that the City

Council reserve a 3.5-acre site adjacent to the main library for the

facility. The center would include a 400-seat auditorium, reception area,

art gallery, classrooms and parking.

What to expect: City Manager Homer Bludau has recommended the council

take no action, saying the issue is worthy of a study session Aug. 8.
