District to honor scholarship winners
-- Danette Goulet
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District Board of Education will honor
this year’s student scholarship and award winners during its regular
board meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. today at the District
Education Center.
Recipients of Newport-Mesa’s five major scholarship awards will be
recognized and congratulated for the honors they received.
The board will consider adopting many new high school, alternative and
adult education textbooks for the next school year.
On the list are 51 new books for the four regular high schools, 27 for
alternative education and seven for adult education. Board members and
the public will have an opportunity to voice any objections to the
selections at the meeting.
District staff will also update the board and the community on the status
of the budget process. Following that update, the board will schedule a
public hearing for the 2000-01 tentative budget. The date considered for
that hearing is June 27 during the board’s regularly scheduled meeting.
