COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa National Little League Astros defeated

the Cardinals, 7-5, recently.

Pitcher Kane Curran threw a complete game for the Astros with seven

strikeouts.

Matt Pisarski had a double, triple and four RBIs, while Zack Shockley

added a double and two RBIs.

Astros Mike Fennessey and Caleb Burgess each had key singles, while

Lawrence Thunell and Austin Evett each made solid defensive plays.

CORONA DEL MAR - The Corona del Mar Dodgers opened the PONY

Baseball interleague playoffs with a 9-3 win over the Costa Mesa

Diamondbacks.

Blaine Gribble and Dan Marin-Finn each had bases-loaded triples for the

Dodgers and each had two hits.

Matt Harrison pitched five strong innings, striking out eight and walking

only one.

Jordan Salinger replaced Harrison and threw two solid innings for the

save.

For the Diamondbacks, Adam Jorgenson pitched two scoreless relief

innings, fanning three.

NEWPORT BEACH - The Rangers defeated the Angels, 12-4 in Newport

Harbor Baseball Association Bronco Division (ages 11-12)playoff action

June 5.

Rangers Tim Cramer and Andrew Skjonsby, who each had three hits, keyed

the offense. Nathan Cramer and Blake Pinto added two hits apiece.

Jayme Ohlhaver and Drew Harris provided solid defense, while pitcher

Nathan Cramer kept the Angels off balance.

In other NHBA Bronco action:

Rangers 8, Padres 4 - Billy Munce smacked two home runs to lead the

Rangers.

Blake Pinto and Brendon Salisbury each had three hits, while Robby

Caughill had a key hit.

Outfielder Cody Greene made several solid defensive plays for the

Rangers.
