Jared Gaeta got the Dodgers off and running Monday with an early

home run, and Garrett Archuleta made a game-saving catch on the run late

in the game, as the Dodgers held off the Rockies, 9-6, in Seaview Little

League Minor A Division play.

Gaeta his a second inning home run to give his team a 1-0 lead, and

the lead grew to 5-0 in the fourth inning on Joe Keeland’s key

run-scoring hit. But the Rockies would not fold as they scored once in

the fourth and tacked on four more runs in the fifth to tie the score at

5-5. Anthony Lee, Addison Babinski, and Jack Garrabrant all had big hits

during the rally, but it was Nick Duchene’s two-RBI single that led the

way.

The Dodgers, however, answered that run in the fifth by scoring four

more runs, forging ahead, 9-5, on hits by Shayne Gardner, AJ Wukawitz,

Gaeta, and Cole Farmer, whose single scored two runs.

The Rockies scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning

when Anthony Lee hit a solo home run with two out, but Archuleta

prevented them from scoring more.

Following Lee’s blast, Babinski and Garrabrant produced consecutive

singles to put runners on base and bring the tying run to the plate, Kyle

Boswell proceeded to sent a shot to deep center field, but Archuleta came

up with the defensive play of the game by making a catch at the fence to

end the dramatic game.
