REPORT CARD

Fountain Valley School District honored the following students from

Moiola School for their achievements and character: John Serrano,

kindergarten; Jake Ehlers, first grade; Alex Ivans, second grade; Lauren

Reid, third grade; Amber Radecki, fourth grade; Dylan Lee, fifth grade;

Mimi Nguyen, sixth grade; Sandy Rivas, seventh grade; and Lauren McCombs,

eighth grade.

Marina Grad night on Friday

Marina High School will hold its 15th annual Grad Night 2000 on Friday.

Through community support and parent volunteers, the night will include

music, entertainment, dancing, games, food and prizes. The school is

still accepting donations of cash or prizes for the event, which hopes to

keep seniors “safe, sane and sober.”

All-American Scholar named

The U.S. Achievement Academy has named John Sidrak of Huntington Beach an

All-American Scholar. The award recognizes students who excel in

academics with a minimum of 3.3 grade-point average. Sidrak, an

eighth-grader, attends Brethren Christian High School.

Golden Girl Scouts awarded

The Girl Scout Council of Orange County presented Senior Girl Scouts with

the Girl Scout Gold Award. Recipients from Fountain Valley are Katelyn

Aronson, Rachel Janda, Thuan-An “Annie” Nguyen and Carly Watanabe.

Recipients from Huntington Beach are Lynette Carlson, Jennifer Melrose

and Katelyn Sellers.

The award is the highest honor in Girl Scouting and is earned through

community service, personal growth and leadership.

Computers donated to high school

Through a partnership between the California Department of Corrections,

Edison International and the Detwiler Foundation Computers for Schools

Programs, Pentium computers were donated to Huntington Beach High School.

The donation will increase the students-per-computer ratio in the

school’s math and science laboratory.
