OCC’s Gomez, Sanchez win locak 5K

COSTA MESA - Juan Sanchez and Zoila Gomez, who have both run for

Orange Coast College, were winners at the Orange County Track Club 5K

race Saturday at Fairview Park.

Sanchez, an Estancia High product, won the men’s race with a time of

16:25, edging out Johann Appell, another former Estancia standout who

wound up his collegiate career at Long Beach State (16:36). Dave Parsel

was third with a 16:57.

Gomez, a Costa Mesa High product, came in with a 20:45, bettering Hailey

Ho’s time of 21:18 and Elaine Tawil’s 21:45.
