South HB All-Stars roll

The South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball 12-and-under

team rolled past four opponents to win the Vista All-Star Tournament in

San Diego County earlier this month.

South Huntington Beach defeated host Vista, 10-1, in the opener, took

care of Simi Valley, 3-1, and then eliminated Imperial Valley, 4-2, to

advance to Sunday’s title game against Moorpark.

It was a tight title game until the bottom of the third inning when, with

two out and runners in scoring position, Jessica Marlow doubled off the

left field fence to give South Huntington Beach a 2-0 lead and send the

team on its way to an eventual 8-0 victory.

Brittnay Hay paced South Huntington Beach on offense by going 3 for 4.

Winning pitcher Jessica Aldrich, who collected two previous tournament

wins, held Moorpark to just one hit in the final.

South Huntington Beach will attempt to ride the momentum of the Vista

triumph at the District All-Star Championships, Saturday and Sunday at

Lake Park in Garden Grove.
