72 HOURS -- A quick guide to the weekend
1. LISTEN UP, PARENTS: An event called “Kids’ Night Out” will not
only give mom and dad an evening off, but it will keep children ages 7 to
12 busy with arts and crafts, bowling and snacks. The event will run from
6 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Balearic Community Center, 1975 Balearic
Drive, Costa Mesa. Cost is $15. Information: (714) 754-5322.
2. HUGGY BEAR: Children can get creative and help a good cause at
Build-A-Bear Workshop. The interactive event for kids will benefit
children with cancer. The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday
at Fashion Island near the Iris Fountain, 925 Newport Center Drive,

3. TAKE A HIKE!: Exercise in the great outdoors! Park rangers will
lead a hike through Crystal Cove State Park at 9 a.m. Sunday. Visitors
will meet at the El Moro Visitor Center, off Pacific Coast Highway,
between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach. The event is free, but parking
