During the Fountain Valley School District board meeting last week,

Supt. Marc Ecker went to turn off the air conditioning in the chilly

room.

“Are you going to let him do that?” joked trustee Judy Edwards.

“The last time we let him do that, he turned the heat on,” trustee

Joanne Lew said.

SPEAKING OF HOT TOPICS

The Huntington Beach City Council presented gift bags to exchange

students from New Zealand and Japan during last week’s council meeting.

Mayor Dave Garofalo, who has been under a great deal of public

scrutiny lately, had the honor of handing them out.

“There is a book in [the gift bags] on how to run for public office,”

he quipped.

SPEAKING OF RUNNING FOR OFFICE

Despite a recent article that cast some doubt on the subject, Fountain

Valley Councilman Larry Crandall said he is, in fact, running for another

term. Crandall and Councilman John Conlosh are up for reelection in the

fall.
