Identity of dead man not yet released

COSTA MESA -- Coroners completed an autopsy but have yet to contact
family members of a Costa Mesa man found dead in knee-deep water
Wednesday in front of the El Morro Village mobile home park.
While officials believe they know the identity of the deceased, they
have not been able to notify any next of kin and will not release the
man’s name until that time.
Although authorities did not determine an exact cause of death, they
do not suspect that foul play was involved, said Joseph Luckey of the
Orange County Coroner’s office.
Authorities will have more information pending the results of
toxicology and other tests. It will take anywhere from six to 16 weeks
before the results are made available, they said.
Beachgoers found the man floating in the ocean around 12:15 p.m.
Wednesday. He was wearing shorts, a T-shirt and socks, but no shoes.
Lifeguards and paramedics pulled the man from the water and began CPR,
but the man could not be revived.
