Swimming: Mackey’s sixth place lead local AquaZot swimmers at Janet

LOS ANGELES - Newport Harbor High sophomore and Irvine AquaZot club

member Nicole Mackey placed sixth in the women’s 200-meter backstroke

last weekend at the Janet Evans Invitational at USC. The meet drew some

of the world’s to swimmers.

Mackey’s time was 2:19.76. She was also 12th in the 400 individual

medley ($:57.30), 13th in the 200 IM (2:21.88) and 16th in the 400

freestyle ($:26.82). She was also on the AquaZot’s sixth-place 800 free

relay squad and the seventh-place 400 medley relay team.

On other local Aquazot swimmers, Newport Harbor graduate Jennifer

Arrow swam a 1:18.73 in the women’s 100 breaststroke and 2:48.76 in the

200 breaststroke. In the men’s race, Adam Hewko swam in five events, the

400 free (4:16.44), 200 breast (2:30.73), 400 IM (4:54.22), 200 IM

(2:16.76) and the 1,500 free (16:45.62).
