Local school board trustees have informally adopted a casual dress

policy during the summer months. However, not all the suits and ties are

taking a rest in their closets. An uninformed consultant arrived decked

out in his suit at the Huntington Beach City School District board

meeting July 11 amid officials who sported more laid-back garb.

“You’re supposed to be a wearing a Hawaiian shirt,” trustee Catherine

McGough joked as the man approached the lectern for his presentation.

“I was forgotten to be told,” explained Ernesto Flores of Caldwell,

Flores and Winter. Inc.

And the award for best comic goes to...

...Chuck Scheid of the Huntington Beach Infrastructure Advisory

Committee. Councilwoman Shirley Dettloff praised Scheid at a special

meeting July 10 for lightening the advisory committee’s mood during the

past two years with his sense of humor. The 35-member committee recently

finished working on a long-term plan to fix the city’s aging sewers and

sidewalks.
