Airman Jenifer N. Threw has graduated from Air Force basic military

training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Threw is a

graduate of Marina High School and is the daughter of Linda Schell of

Huntington Beach and James P. Threw ... Michael-Phillip J. Urdea, a

graduate of Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley, has enlisted in

the Army. Urdea, who will report to Fort Aill, Okla., is the son of Liz

and John Urdea of Fountain Valley ... Jesse E. Timms of Fountain Valley

has joined the Army. Timms is the son of Kathy E. Timms of Huntington

Beach and Daniel E. Timms ... Louisiana State University has announced

that Huntington Beach resident Michael G. Henn earned a place on its

dean’s list by achieving a grade-point average of 3.5 or better during

the spring semester ... Shelby J. Clemens of Huntington Beach, a 1995

graduate of Edison High School, graduated from Colorado Christian

University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with

an emphasis in early childhood education ... Kristin J. Clemens of

Huntington Beach, a 1996 graduate of Edison High School, graduated with

honors from Sonoma State University, where she received a bachelor’s

degree in psychology ... David Briski of Huntington Beach was named to

the 2000 spring term deans’ list at the Oregon Institute of Technology.

Briski is majoring in computer engineering technology. The list requires

that full students maintain a grade-point average of between 3.3 and 3.69

... Molly Tackabury of Huntington Beach received the Babe Memorial

Scholarship. The student attends UC Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine.

Tackabury received the award for her achievement in the rigorous

four-year professional medical program, which combines scientific study

and clinical training ... Christine Ann Saunders, a 1999 Edison High School graduate, was named to the President’s Honor list at Cal State

Long Beach for the 1999-2000 academic year. Christine is the daughter of

Robbie and Gene Saunders of Huntington Beach ... Huntington Beach Police

Officer Derek Young graduated with top honors from the Orange County

Sheriff’s Academy. Young received the Outstanding Officer award for

graduating first in the academy class ... Air Force Airman Paul B. Evans

graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San

Antonio, Texas. Evans is the son of Robert B. and Ines Evans of

Huntington Beach ... Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Gregory S. Osborne has

returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian

Gulf while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan,

home-ported in Norfolk Virginia. Osborne is the son of Rita C. and

Richard G. Osborne of Fountain Valley ... Ami Dianne Orr of Fountain

Valley graduated from Radford University. Orr, the daughter of Jim Orr,

received a bachelor’s degree in speech.
