The Huntington Beach City Council voted 6 to 0 Monday to schedule a

public hearing on changing part of the specific plan for the future

development of the Huntington Beach Mall. Mayor Dave Garofalo abstained.

The hearing will take place on Aug. 7.

The amendment would allow one drive-through bakery at the new mall,

which is dubbed The Crossings at Huntington.

Earlier this month, the council approved a specific plan to establish

guidelines for the mall’s redevelopment. The plan excludes drive-through

restaurants and automotive repair facilities, while creating parking

spaces for full-size and compact cars.

Councilman Dave Sullivan said having a drive-through bakery at the new

mall will attract more customers.
