Sabres shut down Timberwolves, 3-0

With goalie Garrett Ono displaying tenacity in the net, the Sabres

on Friday were able to shutout the Timberwolves, 3-0, in a Smythe

Division game played at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington

Beach.

Ono posted 21 saves, averaging close to seven per quarter.

Jordan Beideman gave the Sabres the lead for keeps at the 12:10 mark

of the first quarter, scoring off an assist shared by Kourtney Kunichika

and Aaron Sutton.

Nicholas Capriccio scored the other two Sabres goals, both coming in

the final (third) period.

His first score was unassisted, his second goal, came off a feed from

Sutton.

Timberwolves goalie Amber Gibson turned in a strong performance.

Despite giving up three goals, Gibson also recorded 35 saves.

Scorpions 7, Avalanche 3

Travis Benson scored three goals and added an assist, Kevin Christy

and Brett Maus each scored twice, and Matt Gattis had an assist for the

Scorpions.

Kyle Carter, James Levi Yuhas, and Robert Brothers all scored

unassisted, and goalie Ross Turchi stopped 35 shots attempts for the

Avalanche.
