a 6-4 win over Commerce.

Ten years ago

Corona del Mar’s Jerrott Willard makes six tackles as the inside

linebacker in the Shrine All-Star football game. Willard’s South squad

falls, 19-14, to the North.

The Newport Beach Dukes gets eliminated from playoff contention with a

24-21 loss to the Los Angeles Strings in Team Tennis. Roger Smith wins

two sets, but the Dukes lose to the Strings for the third time. Amy

Frazier also wins a singles set.

The Dukes does get a 29-17 win over the Charlotte Heat as Smith wins a

key set in that match.

Newport Beach’s Richie Collins barely gets upset by Australian Luke

Egan in a Op Pro Surfing Championship heat, 91-89.3.
