while he was using a pay telephone near Sears in the 3000 block at 9 p.m.

pyromaniac, who blackened the earth in the 900 block with an explosive

device at 4:25 p.m. Friday.

something apparently didn’t occur to the thief who stole a $350 bicycle

in the 700 block between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

* West 19th Street: Dancing at the Lion’s Den all night wasn’t

stimulating enough for an unidentified person, who punched a cab driver

in the face in the 700 block at 12:45 a.m. Saturday. The would-be

customer apparently was miffed at being expected to pay the $1.90

starting fare.

* Scholz Plaza: Someone with an eye for trendy merchandise stole a

pair of tortoise-shell sunglasses and a $250 garage door opener from a

between Sunday and Monday, jumping up and down on it until the roof caved

in, causing $1,000 in damage.
