When the Chinese women’s Olympic basketball team came to visit

Fountain Valley to play the city’s firefighters, the hosts offered the

women a meal of anything they wanted.

To the firefighters’ surprise, the athletes asked for Kentucky Fried

Chicken and ice cream.

The women were excited that the firefighters were able to accommodate

their request, Fountain Valley Fire Capt. Joe Cucinotti said.

When asked to comment on the supposed lack of controversy in Fountain

Valley, Councilman John Collins wryly said:”Actually, the five of us [on

the City Council] are in the witness protection program, and Fountain

Valley is where the FBI relocated us.”

When asked, Huntington Beach Councilman Dave Sullivan said he was not

planning to attend the grand opening for the Flamingo Adult Theater,

Huntington Beach’s first all-nude, nonalcoholic club.

However, Sullivan, who is against the idea of having such a business

in Surf City, did jokingly ask to be given a full report on the goings

on.
