We asked young trendsetters at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island what is

hot this year in back-to-school styles?

1. Printed pants, Roxy dresses and Capri pants are really in. So far,

I’ve got a suede and a jean jacket. Accessories are really big --

anything beaded. I’m going to be a junior this year and at my school,

Corona del Mar High School, it’s very important to look good. It’s like a

fashion show every day. Sloppy is not in. You can tell where people live

by the way they dress.

3. Quiksilver clothes are really in -- surfer clothes. Hawaiian shirts

are also in. On a scale of one to 10, I’m a 10 on the importance of

dressing good. And you’re supposed to have dyed hair. I’m going to care

how I look forever.

4. Tony Hawk pants are big. They are skateboarder pants. My

back-to-school clothes are blue and khaki colors. It’s very important to

wear good clothes.

5. A lot of people are getting shorts and jeans with designs. I also

like dresses that you can play in. I like shopping at Old Navy and

Limited Too. I like shirts with spaghetti straps. I like clothes that

Brittany Spears wears. I would dress like her.

6. I already have some skorts -- they are shorts that look like a

skirt. I also like dresses that go past my knees. Well, since the clothes

fit me, I’m going to start shopping at Limited Too. But I mostly shop at

Nordstrom.
