ISSUE: JOINT USE OF LAND

Summary: At its Tuesday night meeting, the school board approved an

agreement between the district and the city of Huntington Beach for

improvements at Lake View Elementary School, the closed Park View school

and Murdy Park. Lake View will accommodate the youth soccer and softball

activities previously held on the former Crest View school grounds. The

Ocean View Little League activity at Rancho View will be moved to Park

View and Murdy Park.

ISSUE: LIGHTSPAN NETWORK

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The board approved the purchase of the Lightspan network, an

online service that provides professionally designed educational

activities that align with state standards.

ISSUE: PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The board approved a State Preschool Program Grant of

$545,300. The money will be used to lease four portable buildings, with

an option to buy later, to establish an administrative center adjacent to

the preschool program for both preschool and adult education support

services.
