COSTA MESA

* Gisler Avenue: A customer at Motel 6 in the 1400 block awoke from a

brief nap to find his $320 briefcase and cellular phone missing at 8 p.m.

Monday.

* Harbor Boulevard: An employee at Rite Aid in the 3000 block watched

as a teenage boy with spiked hair rode off on her $100 bike at 11:50 a.m.

Aug. 9.

* Superior Avenue: A female guest at the Ramada Inn in the 1600 block

Aug. 9 returned to her room at noon to discover her wedding ring and pair

of gold hoop earrings were missing from the night stand. The jewelry was

valued at $640.

NEWPORT BEACH

* Harding Way: A man returned from work to discover a box of rat

poison left in his home in the 400 block Wednesday evening. Attached was

a note that called him an obscenity. It then read: “your dog has been

barking all day, don’t let it happen again.” It was the second time this

year someone has threatened to poison the dog.

* East Ocean Front: A woman riding a rented surrey with her father

discovered her $125 backpack had been stolen at some point during the

ride at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

* Amigos Way: Someone stole a $100 jewelry box and personal organizer

from a residence in the 700 block between 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:45 a.m.

Wednesday.
