ISSUE: BUDGET

Vote: 4-1, with Trustee Matthew Harper dissenting

Summary: At Tuesday’s meeting, the board approved the revised final

budget of nearly $69.1 million for the 2000-01 school year.

ISSUE: SALARY INCREASES

Vote: 4-1, with Harper dissenting because contracts were made before

his term began

Summary: The board approved a 6.73% salary increase for the 2000-01

school year for all certificated administrators, classified management

and confidential employees, effective July 1.

ISSUE: STRATEGIC PLAN BUDGET

Vote: curriculum, instruction and assessment -- 4-1, with Harper

dissenting; technology -- 5-0; facilities -- 4-1, with Harper

dissenting; exemplary performance -- 4-1, with Harper dissenting;

communication -- 4-1, with Harper dissenting; safety -- 4-1, with Harper

dissenting; at-risk student programs -- 5-0; and any other additional

site strategic planning -- 5-0

Summary: The board approved the $2.87-million budget for the

district’s 2000-01 strategic plan, Odyssey 2002.

ISSUE: GRANT FUNDS APPLICATION

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The school board agreed to apply to the California Department

of Education for continued funding through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational

and Applied Technology Education Act. The $234,617 grant will be used to

support business education, industrial technology, family and consumer

sciences, and agricultural programs. No matching funds are required.

ISSUE: SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The board authorized the initiation of the bid process to

select a contractor for the Westminster High School facilities

improvement project.

ISSUE: PUBLIC INFORMATION SERVICES

Vote: 4-1, with Harper dissenting

Summary: The board agreed to extend a contract with Eileen Padberg

Consulting for public information services. The term of the agreement is

extended to June 30 for $54,000, plus $5,400.
