With Mother Nature’s providing good surf, the sixth event of the

2000 Huntington Beach Pro/Am Surf Series was a success last weekend at

the southside of the Huntington Beach Pier.

Seven athletes won first place in their respective divisions in surf

that produced solid waves for the competition.

“Once again, the HB Pro/Am Surf Series was blessed with good waves,”

Event Director Seth Matson said. “This has been the best year for waves

that I can recall in the last six years of running these events. We hope

that good ol’ Mother Nature can keep up the good waves for our last two

(events) of the year.

“The surfers in this month’s event really stepped it up big time with

some spectacular surfing.”

The Men’s Division title was won by Aaron Wonders, with Natalie Dix

taking the Women’s Division competition.

Other first place finishers included Colin Schildauer in Super Groms,

John Paul Taylor in Boys, Brandon Long in Juniors, Mike Gillard in

Masters, and Rocky McKinnon in Longboarding.

The next series event will be held Sept. 9-10 at Ninth St. in

Huntington Beach. The single-rated event will features a $1,000 first
