Two South Coast Repertory conservatories are accepting applications

for the fall session of acting classes.

The first session of the Young Conservatory program for kids in the

third through 12th grade runs from Sept. 12 until Nov. 18. The year-round

program is divided by age, into the youth classes for third- through

sixth graders and Teen Theatre for seventh graders through high school

seniors. Tuition is $210 for each group. Information: (714) 708-5562.

Registration is also open for SCR’s Theatre Conservatory for students

ages 18 and older. The fall session begins Sept. 11, with weekly evening

classes Mondays through Thursdays for nine weeks. The schedule includes a

first-time course called “Fundamentals of Dramatic Writing.” Lessons will

focus on character, plot, conflict and dialogue. Tuition is $265 per

nine-week class.

The Center offers students reduced prices

The Orange County Performing Arts Center is offering special savings

for student subscribing to its 2000-2001 concert series and the J.P.

Morgan Jazz Club series in Founders Hall.

For the concerts, students may select a minimum of five presentations

from the series for $10 per performance, or $50 total. Regular

five-concert subscription prices are $185.

The Jazz Club series price for a student subscription is $106,

including eight Friday or Saturday evening performances. Regular prices

for this series range from $269 to $304.

Discount available for OCC fall concerts

Orange Coast College’s Performing Arts Program is offering a 10%

discount on six October concerts for patrons who use a new online ticket

service. The Web site is o7 www.occtickets.comf7 . The discounted

prices range from $18 to $22.50.

The performances will be staged in OCC’s Robert B. Moore Theatre. The

events include a Nanette Fabray concert Oct. 6, Anjani’s Kathak Dance of

India on Oct. 8, a James Darren concert Oct. 14 and “A Tribute to Benny

Goodman” on Oct. 21.
