In a conversation with Fountain Valley Mayor Guy Carrozzo during the

city’s Hawaiian Luau luncheon, he showed his good-humored sense of self

by admitting that he attended a Huntington Beach event earlier that

morning while dressed in traditional Hawaiian garb.

“They had a speaker on economical development, and everyone there was

wearing suits,” he said, “and I walk in looking like I just got off the

‘Love Boat.”’

Signs of their time

Pegasus School in Huntington Beach had its Thunders logo beautifully

centered on its new gymnasium floor. Though the students may like the

gym, they especially like what’s underneath.

Before the floor was laid, all the students and staff at the school

had a chance to sign their names on the concrete.

With self-deprecating humor, Huntington Beach Councilman Dave

Sullivan, who is originally from Boston, poked fun at his New England

accent at a budget hearing last month.

“I apologize for saying ‘pahk,”’ said Sullivan, referring to the

discussion on building an urban park in Central Park.
