The new Macy’s Home store opens today at South Coast Plaza. It

showcases merchandise by household room.

“The idea behind Macy’s Home is to keep our customer surprised,

inspired, and entertained by all of the possibilities of the store,” says

Jeremiah Sullivan, chairman and CEO of Macy’s West. “For the first time,

the customer can see, and then purchase, complete lifestyle

arrangements.”

The merchandise on each floor is presented the way people live and is

organized by room. Home prep on the first floor features housewares,

gadgets, appliances, a new demonstration kitchen and a restaurant area.

In entertainment on level two, there’s living room and dining room

furniture, along with all of the tabletop and accessories that go into

these rooms. The third floor is dedicated to the bedroom, bathroom, the

guest room and the home office. This floor will present furniture

complimented with all of the accessories needed to complete these rooms.

Macy’s Home will also feature the latest in housewares and furniture,

including Thomas O’Brien’s new line of furniture for Hickory Chair;

Emerilware professional cookware by Chef Emeril Lagasse; furniture by Bob

Timberlake and the first-ever, soot-free candles by Pure Candle. At

189,000 square feet, Macy’s Home is directly across from the existing

full-line Macy’s department store. For the grand opening celebration, the

following appearances and special events will take place: from 2 to 5

p.m. there will be a personal appearance by Denise Austin, a bedding

designer; at 3 p.m., a personal appearance by Isabelle Von Boch; at 6

p.m., a seminar with Rick Gigli; and at 7 p.m., a cooking demo with Chef

Pascal.
