FRIDAY

SATURDAY

Soak in drawings and sculptures with “Correspondences,” an exhibit of

works by Ellsworth Kelly and Isamu Noguchi on view through Oct. 15 at the

Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. Hours

are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission is $5 for

adults; $4 for students and seniors; museum members and children under 16

SUNDAY

Move over Benihana chefs. Watch experts turn tricks with knives at

Blade Show West, a knife trade show, held through Sunday at the

Doubletree Hotel, 3050 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. The show will include

demonstrations of Japanese sword fighting and knife forging. Hours are 9

a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $9 a day,

$14 for two-day pass or $18 for three-day pass. Free for children younger

MONDAY

Check out what your city officials have brewing up their creative

sleeves at Newport Beach’s city employees art exhibit at City Hall, 3300

Newport Blvd. Exhibit hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays through

TUESDAY

Travel back in time to when Chinese mariners navigated the oceans with

old-school instruments in the 18th century. “Mariners and Mandarins:

Seafaring in the China Trade,” an exhibit featuring Chinese marine

paintings and navigation instruments, is on display from 10 a.m. to 5

p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Nov. 10 at the Newport Harbor

Nautical Museum, 151 E. Coast Highway, Newport Beach. Free. (949)

WEDNESDAY

Kick back after work with musical entertainment at Carmelo’s at 8 p.m.
