Newport Beach advertising agency Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder has promoted

Andrea Caillier to senior account coordinator. In her new position, she

will coordinate a variety of advertising and marketing activities for

agency clients Henry Roofing Products, SaveDaily.com and Renkus-Heinz

Speakers. Caillier, a Newport Beach resident, joined the agency in 1999

as an account coordinator. Prior to that, she served as an advertising

assistant at Guess Handbags in Los Angeles. Caillier graduated from the

University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in business

administration and a minor in mass media communications. ... Marine Corps

Lance Cpl. Jon Nguyen, son of Truyen H. Nguyen of Costa Mesa, recently

returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian

Gulf while assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp

Lejeune, N.C. Nguyen’s unit visited cities in Italy and Spain, where

Marines had the opportunity to shop, sightsee and enjoy local culture and

cuisine. Nguyen, a 1998 graduate of Costa Mesa High School, joined the

Marine Corps in August 1998. ... Justin S. Mandel of Corona del Mar was

among more than 1,000 students receiving bachelor’s degrees during

commencement exercises at Dartmouth College on June 11. Mandel is the son

of Phyllis and Richard Mandel of Corona del Mar. He majored in government

at Dartmouth, the ninth-oldest college in the nation. Dartmouth is in New

Hampshire. ... Members of the Newport Beach/Corona del Mar Kiwanis Club

have returned from the California-Nevada-Hawaii district convention, held

at the Town & Country Convention Center in San Diego. Representing the

club as newly elected officers and delegates were: Tina Hoover,

lieutenant governor designate; Nancy Bell, president-elect; Ted Dean,

secretary-elect; and Chuck Hoover, past president. The primary focus of

the convention was finding ways to better serve the children of the

world. To date, the California-Nevada-Hawaii district has raised $5

million toward the elimination of iodine deficiency disorders worldwide.

... Founding board of directors and members of the British American

Business Council Orange County chapter will celebrate the organization’s

10th anniversary during a Casino Night on Saturday at Bauer Jaguar, and

at the Founder’s Golf Tournament on Monday at Marbella Country Club to

benefit HomeAid Orange County. The British American Business Council is

based in Costa Mesa.
