COSTA MESA
* Richmond Way: A thief made off with a Razor scooter from a home in
the 2300 block the evening of Sept. 2. The name of the victim was etched
on the bottom of the stolen scooter.
* Pomona Avenue: A burglar entered a house on the 2000 block and made
off with a jewelry box filled with jewelry valued at more than $6,000
while the owner was on vacation. The victim had experienced a similar
theft -- this one costing her almost $5,000 -- only a few months back.
* Avenue of the Arts: A tourist at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in the
3300 block was using a pay phone for about 30 seconds the morning of
Sept. 6, but that was enough time for a thief to walk away with his
luggage. The loss was estimated at more than $4,000.
NEWPORT BEACH
* Newport Center Drive: A man turned to pay for his food at the Pain
Du Monde bakery in the 100 block Friday afternoon, and when he turned
back he discovered that he was now minus a cellular phone.
* Marsala Drive: A man returned to his Buick in the 200 block Saturday
morning and found that somebody had stood on the hood and smashed in the
windshield.
* Via Oporto: A suspect punched out the window of an outside display
case at Electra Cruises shortly after 2 a.m. Friday. A passing taxi
driver reported seeing a man running away with his hands bloodied from
the blow to the case.
