AYSO Region 97: Breakers blank Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST - The Newport Breakers, a girls under 10 progressive
soccer team from AYSO Region 97, shut out Lake Forest, 6-0, on Sept. 9.
Kori Erhorn scored two goals, while Lauren DeVoy, Shannon Rohan, Sara
Gomez and Amy Snyder each added single goals.
Erin Miller and Alice Cope each had assists for the Breakers, while
goalkeepers Stephanie Nealy and Amy Snyder, along with defenders Maggie
Bernay, Kelly Heenan, Megan McMahon and Katy Storch kept Lake Forest off
the scoreboard.
In other Region 97 action:
Silver 5, RIP Girls 2 - In girls under 10 Silver was led by Gillian
Hogan, who had three goals. Kristi Jacobs came through with two goals,
while Shelby Searles and Lauren Draganza combined in goal to stop
numerous shots.
Silver & Black 4, RIP Girls 2 - For the RIP Girls, Mia Butera and
Bailey Johnson each scored goals.
In Division 4 action:
Team # 8 3, Team #3 2 - Team #3 was led by Jackie Sanchez and Kelsey
Dunn, who each scored. Alexandra Penwell also played a solid all-around
game.
In Division 6-7 action:
The Rockets used solid teamwork in its match with the Roses.
Hanna VanVoorhis, Alexandra Chandler, Madison Collina, Rachel Wurr,
Caitlin Cohn, Kristen Rohan, Jamie Darling and Rachael Vensand each
played well for the Rockets.
In the game between the Wild Things and the Green Dolphins, Hailey
Schwartz led the Wild Things with a goal, while Mary Yeager and Amanda
Peterson each played well on offense.
Hannah MacLeod was strong in the midfield and Mia Van Bergh, Lauren
Wertheimer, Gigi Joseph and Allyson Parker led the Wild Things’ defense.
