AYSO Region 97: Amoeba 2000 blanks Team #3

NEWPORT BEACH - The Amoeba 2000 AYSO Region 97 boys under 14 soccer

team shut out Team #3, 5-0, Sunday.

Sean Rowe scored three goals for the Amoeba, while Brendon Sowers

chipped in with two.

Philip Houten, Chase Nelson, Clayton Heuser and Luis Ordaz led the

Amoeba’s defense.

In Division 4 action:

Blue Devils 8, Silver Knights 1 - Taylor Friend had two goals while

Edgar Torres, Taylor Stevenson, R.J. D’Cruz, Flavio Cuevas, Jonathan

Gordon and Ian Fowler each added single tallies for the Blue Devils.

Johnny Savoji had two assist, while Adam Knott and Preston Davey each

added one.

The Blue Devils’ defense was led by Johnathan Sutterfield, Grant

Jackson, Jordan Hovis and Brandon Woods.

The Blue Devils also defeated the Sharks, 7-1, led by another solid

team effort.

In boys under 10 select action:

Newport Lightning 3, Lake Forest 3 - Westley Parks, J.B. Green and

Alex Maddox each scored goals for the Lightning, thanks to crisp passes

from Brandon Whitfield.

Goalkeepers Michael Helfrich and Scott Ward made numerous saves for

the Lightning, while Chris Barnard and John Paul Turnbull played well at

midfield.

Parker Conant and Coby Peterson anchored the Lightning’s defensive

play from start to finish.
