AYSO Region 120: APP team beats Rancho Santa Margarita
COSTA MESA - The AYSO Region 120 boys under 13 APP soccer team
defeated Rancho Santa Margarita, 2-1, last weekend.
Adrian Jiminez led the offensive attack with a goal and an assist,
while Brian Henriques added another goal.
Goalkeeper Kyle Eckmann kept numerous shots out while the defense was
led by Ian Lamb, Jordan Kalke, Nick Juarez, Michael McDaniels, Evan Van
Geem and Nick Arant.
Danny Perez, Andy Sussman, Keith Eldridge, Scott Braunsdorf and Kane
Curran were strong at midfield.
Costa Mesa also won its first game of the season, 5-1, over North
Irvine. Perez had two goals, while Jiminez, Braunsdorf and Henriques each
added single tallies.
In boys under 12 action:
RedWings 2, Killer Stingrays 2 - The defensive unit of Nick Straubel,
Nick Ippolito, Josh Young, Matt Peterka and Brandon Esping held the
Killer Stingrays scoreless in the first half.
Edward Bello and Kenneth Zich each scored for the RedWings, while
Mario Osorno, Roger Infranca, Jonathan Scrantom, Josh Berry, Angel Garcia
and Nick Vinson helped contribute to the team’s offense.
In boys under 10 action:
Gladiators 5, Green Raptors 2 - Anthony Flores and Garret Frazier each
scored goals for the Gladiators, while Ausai Bhaijeewala, Frazier, David
Feliz, Rigoberto Perez and Zachary Noon helped spark the offense for
three more goals.
Tigers 3, Blue Thunder 3 - Hector Solis and Yacet Acosta each scored
goals for the Tigers, while Derek Lecot, Brian Bran and goalie Elijah
Talley anchored the team’s defense.
In boys under 8 action:
The Raiders, in their game with the Champs, were led offensively by
Preston Schow, who had two goals. The Raiders’ defense was led by Langdon
Holmes, Matt Parsons and Alex Tashjian. The Champs’ Ben Nordstrom played
a solid all-around game.
