Pilot names city, features editors

S.J. Cahn, the former city editor of the Daily Pilot, has returned to

his former post and will join assistant city editor Jasmine Lee in the

supervision of the newswriting and reporting staff of the newspaper.

Cahn, who left the Pilot in January to oversee a separate community

news operation, has worked as both an editor and reporter, including

stints at the Kansas City Star and St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He has a

master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri at

Columbia.

In addition, Jennifer Mahal has been named the paper’s features

editor. Mahal joined the Pilot in 1997 and has held various editing

roles. Prior to her arrival here, she worked as a reporter, entertainment

and features editor at the Key West Citizen in Key West, Fla. She is a

graduate of Loyola Marymount University.

In a related move, Editor Tony Dodero will assume the editing duties

of the Pilot’s Community Forum pages.
