Judith O’Dea Morr was appointed executive vice president of the Orange
County Performing Arts Center by president Jerry E. Mandel.
The administrative change was made to meet the demands of the Center’s
planned expansion, which will create a new 2,000-seat concert hall and
500-seat music theater. Morr will assume responsibility for the
day-to-day operations of the Center’s current facilities and continue to
lead all of the programming activities.
Pacific Symphony hires VP of development
The Pacific Symphony Assn. announced that Susan Totten has been hired
as vice president of development.
Totten, who has served as director of development and campaign
director for the School of the Arts at the UC Irvine, has replaced Nancy
Schilling.
Her responsibilities include planning and executing the Pacific
Symphony Orchestra’s annual sustaining fund, managing annual fund-raising
campaigns and projects, working to increase the endowment and supervising
the planned giving program.
Open house set for performing arts program
Parents and children interested in the Adderley School for the
Performing Arts, a theater program, should attend an open house from 3 to
5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Jimmie DeFore Dance Center, 151 Kalmus Road, Suite
G3, Costa Mesa.
Broadway and television actress Janet Adderley and television and
Broadway director Kim Friedman will head the theater academy and attend
the open house to answer questions. A second open house will be held from
3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at the same location.
Attendees will have the opportunity to take advantage of discounted
early sign-up rates.

Film noir series moderated by OCC professor
Orange Coast College professor H. Arthur Taussig will moderate a
three-part series on film noir starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the
Orange County Museum of Art.
Taussig, author of “Film Values/Family Values: A Parent’s Guide,” will
introduce each film, starting with Billy Wilder’s 1950 noir classic,
“Sunset Boulevard.”
The series will meet the first Fridays in October, November and
December. On Nov. 3, the museum will show the 1948 thriller “Sorry Wrong
Number,” starring Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster. Lana Turner and
John Garfield star in the series’ final film, “The Postman Always Rings
Twice,” scheduled to appear Dec. 1.
Taussig is the adjunct curator of film for the museum.
