B.W. COOK -- The Look

Forget Paris, New York and Milan. Here in Newport Beach there is a

boutique called Mi Place at the Corona del Mar Plaza, which is known all

over Southern California as the destination for the shopper in search of

unique fashion with a European designer feel.

Actually, Mi Place originated in Fullerton some 25 years ago, founded

by sister-in-law partners Mary Rubenstein and Iris Tons Frankel. The

store takes its name from Mary and Iris -- “M” and “I” equal “Mi.”

A year after opening, success enabled the duo to open a second shop in

Laguna Niguel. That South County boutique provided the partners with a

following that encouraged them to open up shop in Newport Beach.

One of the local gals who says she loves to shop at Mi Place is Eve

Kornyei, a major crusader on the local social and charitable front.

Kornyei is often at the helm of any number of worthy causes, working to

raise funds to keep the wheels of community service in motion.

When she’s not working, Kornyei just might be shopping. She shows off

some of the latest designer fashions from her favorite boutique.

1. Eve Kornyei looks smashing in this leather jacket from “The

Wrights,” with its ruffled flounce ($667) worn with matching leather

pants. The pumps are by Alberta Ferretti in a crocodile patterned leather

($420). Kornyei’s handbag is by “Buster Bag” ($575) with a frosted

crystal beaded handle in cowhide.

2. Designer Michael Kors creates this camel hair jacket ($700) worn

with camel hair slacks ($370). The pumps are by Ferretti ($420) and the

bag is Ann Turk’s leather croc bag ($401).

Rodriquez.

4. Narisco Rodriquez creates this very special black sequin-beaded

mesh dress ($5,700).

5. Eve Kornyei shows off this Alberta Ferretti black metallic jacket

black lizard heels ($437). The bag is a Lambertson Truex black pony purse

($1,030).

6. “Miri” makes this black skirt suit with a 3/4 sleeve ($1,725). Eve
