OCC women’s water polo: Pirates coast to semifinals
VENTURA - With solid defense and a scoring punch, Orange Coast
College’s women’s water polo team won two matches at the Ventura
Tournament Friday.
The Pirates will play in the semifinals today at 9 a.m. against
Ventura College. The winner faces Fullerton for the championship later
in the day.
In the first round, OCC took out Rio Hondo, 11-2, as Christine
McDonald scored three goals and Daylene Coberly and Heather Pappas scored
two apiece. Pirates’ goalie Erica Anderson had six saves.
OCC then defeated West Valley, 11-2, in the second round. This time it
was Devon Wright, who stepped up with four goals. Neisha Hoagland, Katie
Sackett and Jennifer Hallman scored two goals each. OCC goalie Kennedy
had nine saves.
The Pirates improved to 11-2-1.
