FOUNTAIN VALLEY -- Doug Henry unsuccessfully ran for City Council in

1998. But in this election, he finds himself with another opportunity to

serve the city’s residents.

As a taxpayer, an active voter and president of his homeowners

association, Henry said he knows his local community well and would be a

great fit on the City Council. He also ran for and was appointed member

of the city’s Housing and Community Development Advisory Board for two

years.

Henry is informative when talking of the most pressing issues facing

the city.

“Our streets are absolutely dangerous,” he said, saying commuter

traffic is forced onto city streets by over-congestion on the San Diego

Freeway and that surface streets are used to avoid the highway.

“Santa Ana has six east-west roads over the Santa Ana River to our

north, Fountain Valley supports five, and Huntington Beach only has three

such passes,” he said.

Henry also uses one word to describe the city’s most important issue

-- safety.

DOUGLAS HENRY ON:

* SAFETY AND INFRASTRUCTURE:

Henry’s goal is to keep the city’s streets safe and to stop gridlock

from taking over our surface streets.

“We need to maintain our aging infrastructure,” he said.

He also wants to protect the city’s water rights and keep the city’s

businesses profitable.

* RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PARKING:

Henry said the solution to this dilemma is as simple as enforcing the

existing laws.

“These RVs have no business being stored long-term on our streets due

to the basic tenant of safety. These large vehicles are view hazards for

people navigating the streets by foot, by bike, by automobile, etc. I

firmly support these same people’s rights to park their RVs in their

driveway or their yard.”
