CROP WALK

The 12th annual United Interfaith CROP Hunger Walk will start 1 p.m.

Sunday at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. The seven

kilometer walk along Upper Newport Bay, sponsored by the Newport Mesa

Irvine Interfaith Council, benefits in part local food pantries,

including Share Our Selves and Jewish Family Services. The church is at

WOMEN’S RETREAT

Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish in Newport Beach will conduct a

one-day retreat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Heart of Jesus

Retreat Center, at the corner of Greenville Street and Segerstrom Avenue

in Santa Ana. All women are welcome. The retreat master will be Wilkie

Au, an author and adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

Newport Mesa Christian Center will hold a Harvest Festival from 5:30

to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 as an alternative to traditional Halloween

trick-or-treating. The festival, designed for children 2 to 12, includes

rides, games booths, an In-N-Out burger dinner and lots of candy for $5.

MEDITATION LESSONS

A “lectio divina” meditation group will be held weekly beginning at

7:15 p.m. Oct. 19 at Our Lady Angels Parish Center, 2046 Mar Vista Drive,

Newport Beach. Lectio is a style of meditation that includes using
