Boys water polo: Sailors rally to defeat The Bishops

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport Harbor High boys water polo team used a

strong second half for a 15-13 comeback win against The Bishops School of

San Diego Saturday afternoon.

Trailing, 9-7, after two quarters, Newport (12-4), ranked No. 2 in CIF

Southern Section Division I, outscored The Bishops, 8-4, for the win.

Ryan Cook paced the Sailors’ offense with six goals and two assists,

while Peter Belden added five goals and five assists. Caine Littrell

added two goals, while Steven Jendrusina and Joey Snelgrove each scored

single goals.

In goal, Shawn Johnson had eight saves, while Brandon McLain chipped

in with three for Newport.

The Bishops, one of the top teams in San Diego, falls to 14-3.
