Pirates just miss, 7-6

CYPRESS - Orange Coast College’s Pirates nearly pulled off its

third upset of a top-10 team in three games, but fell to No. 2-ranked

Cuesta Friday in the Cypress Tournament, losing a 7-6 men’s water polo

duel.

The Pirates, 9-10, trailed at halftime, 5-2, but went on a 4-1 run in

the second half to even the score at 6-6 with 3:15 left before Cuesta

finally got the game-winner with 2:24 to go.

Jeffery Sample scored four goals and Steve Dugger and Chris

Lancellotti each had one for the Pirates.

OCC meets Chaffey tonight.
